Fence Pressure Cleaning Central Coast

Fences Take Up a Lot of Visual Space — When They're Dirty, It Shows

Your fence runs the entire boundary of your property. That’s a lot of surface area, and when it’s covered in green algae, black mould, or years of built-up grime it drags down the look of the whole place — even if everything else is clean and tidy.

Fence pressure cleaning is one of those jobs that makes a bigger difference than people expect. A clean fence makes the garden look better, the house look better, and the whole property feel more looked after.

Why Fences Get So Dirty on the Central Coast

Fences sit in all the worst conditions for dirt and organic growth. They’re outside year round, they cop everything the weather throws at them, and they’re often in shade for part of the day — which is exactly where mould and algae love to be.

On the Central Coast, salt air accelerates the weathering of both timber and metal fencing. Timber fences in particular absorb moisture and organic material quickly, and once green algae or black mould gets established in the grain it can be hard to shift without the right equipment. Colorbond fencing holds up better but still collects a layer of grime, pollution residue, and algae over time — especially on the shaded side.

Most fences on the Coast haven’t been properly cleaned since they were installed. A lot of customers are genuinely surprised by the colour underneath.

Fence Pressure Cleaning — Types of Fencing We Clean

We clean all common fence types found on Central Coast properties:

  • Timber paling fences — soft wash method to clean without raising the grain or splitting aged timber
  • Timber lapped and capped fences — same approach, good results on both horizontal and vertical surfaces
  • Colorbond fencing — low to medium pressure, cleans up well without marking or dulling the surface
  • Brick and rendered brick fences — handles pressure well, good results on mould and pollution staining
  • Concrete panel fences — responds well to pressure washing, algae and lichen come off cleanly
  • Pool fencing — glass, aluminium, and tubular steel all cleaned carefully without scratching
  • Aluminium slat fencing — gentle wash, attention to the gaps between slats
  • Hardwood and treated pine retaining fence combinations — assessed individually based on condition

If your fence type isn’t listed here, get in touch anyway. We’ve worked on most things and will let you know if it’s a job we can help with.

Timber Fences Need a Different Approach

It’s worth spending a moment on timber specifically because it’s the most common fence type on the Central Coast and the one most likely to be damaged by the wrong cleaning method.

High pressure on timber forces water into the grain, raises the surface fibres, and can split aged or weathered boards. Consumer pressure washers are a common culprit for this — people buy or hire one, hit the fence at full pressure, and end up with a rough, fuzzy surface that looks worse than before.

We use a soft wash approach on timber — lower pressure, appropriate detergent, and time to let the cleaning agent do the work before rinsing. The result is a genuinely clean surface without the damage. If the timber is in good condition after cleaning, it’s also in a much better state to take a coat of oil or stain if that’s on the cards.

How the Service Works

Get in touch for a free quote. We’ll ask about the fence type, the approximate length, and the general condition. Long boundary fences or properties with multiple fence lines are quoted based on the total area involved.

On the day we work methodically along the fence, pre-treating sections with heavy algae or mould build-up before washing. For timber we keep the pressure controlled throughout. For Colorbond and metal fencing we adjust based on what the surface needs.

Most residential fence cleans take between one and three hours depending on length and condition. We’ll give you a realistic time estimate when we quote.

What Does Fence Pressure Cleaning Cost?

Fence cleaning is priced based on the length and type of fencing involved. Most residential jobs come in between $100 and $300. A short side fence is at the lower end. A full boundary clean covering multiple fence lines sits higher.

Bundling a fence clean with a driveway, patio, or exterior wash on the same visit is the most cost-effective option. Get in touch and we’ll put a combined quote together.

We always price upfront. No changes on the day.

A Good Time to Book

Pre-sale is one of the most popular times for a fence clean — it’s a quick, affordable way to sharpen up the street appeal of a property before it goes on the market. Real estate agents consistently mention fencing as one of the first things buyers notice on arrival.

Pre-summer is the other busy period, when people are getting the whole outdoor area ready for the season. And if you’re planning to re-oil or re-stain a timber fence, a pressure clean beforehand is the right first step — you want to be applying finish to clean timber, not sealing in a layer of mould and grime.

Frequently Asked Questions

Not if the right pressure is used. High pressure at close range can mark Colorbond, but at the correct distance and PSI it cleans without affecting the surface. We know how to treat it properly.

A clean timber fence shows the natural colour of the wood. If the timber has already gone grey from UV exposure and weathering, cleaning won't reverse that — but it will remove the green algae and black mould that's on top of it. After cleaning, a coat of timber oil or stain is the next step if you want to restore the colour and protect the wood going forward.

Possibly, with a very gentle approach. We'll assess the condition before starting and be straight with you if we think the timber is too far gone to clean safely without causing damage. Some very aged or weathered fences are better off being replaced than cleaned.

We clean whichever side or sides you need. If one side faces a neighbour's property, it's worth a conversation with them first — most people are happy to have it done. We can work from one side in most cases if access to the other isn't available.

H3: How often should I get my fence cleaned?

Every one to two years is reasonable for most Central Coast properties. Fences in heavy shade or close to the coast may benefit from annual cleaning to stay on top of mould and salt build-up.
